PROJECT PROPOSAL & FEEDBACK

FEEDBACK

GRADE: A3          MARKER: Emma Calder
Victoria – you have presented a clear and focused proposal for your FMP, well done.
Your concept is well timed, and extremely relevant to today’s society.  The research you have undertaken is thorough, and it’s good to see that you have backed up your own thoughts with views from a wide range of people – important primary research.  Your customer profile is fine, although you could have been more targeted here, you describe how they are users of social media, but don’t go into detail about who or what they might follow on twitter or Instagram.  Which blogs do they read and why, which websites do they shop from, and why might they be worrying about their usage of online media?
It’s good to see that you have thought through the layout and created a storyboard, an important factor that will help you to focus on the creative content.  You mention that you will be collaborating with a number of different creative, but don’t go in to detail how you will find these people to work with, or what your precise role will be – creative director?  Stylist?  Editor?  Working with such a large team as you propose, you will have to draw on all of your time management skills.  Finally, the budget that you have put together is a little basic, more detailed information about why you have costed for the ‘props’, ‘location’ and how you got a price of £150 for models (is this an agency cost or travel/food costs)?
Overall, you have a great idea here, please make use of your time with your mentor, and I look forward to seeing your work develop.

REFLECTING ON FEEDBACK

Proposing a product of timely relevance was a favourable move made by myself as it has allowed me to feel confident in achieving a relatable outcome that will have a powerful meaning to it. Through thorough primary research I was able to understand the ways in which individuals are using their social media accounts and whether all that is being posted within them is actually true.

Through further primary and secondary research, I wish to understand why people feel that they need to post false content, if they gain anything from this and how integrated social media accounts have become within their day-to-day lives. From these findings, developments and ideas will be achievable to create an objective outcome that can communicate a message to viewers about the ever growing social media obsession we as a society are engulfed within.

I need to research further into other creatives that I could collaborate with to create the various imagery within the publication - through university platforms and tutors this will be easier to achieve as they will be able to guide me towards reliable and hardworking people. It was also mentioned within the feedback that I haven't been specific of my job role within the project - I will be working as the creative director, overseeing all aspects of the book, as well as styling any ideas for images along the way.
This project will allow me to work on my management skills of a large team, as I haven't had the chance to do so yet within university and I feel like it would be a valuable skill to acquire especially as I am due to leave education soon and enter ‘the real world’ within industry where this skill is needed.
